Urgent – Sink Hole on Coastal Path near Leasfoot Beach

A large sink hole has appeared next to the costal path at the side of Leasfoot Beach (approx. 12ft diam x 30ft deep).

At present this is extremely dangerous and the public should keep well clear until deemed safe.

South West Water are aware and sending an emergency team out later today to assess, make safe and potentially close the path.

ROAD CLOSURE NOTICE – BANTHAM TO AUNEMOUTH CROSS, BANTHAM

DEVON COUNTY COUNCIL hereby give NOTICE that:

From MONDAY 12 MAY 2025

for a maximum of 5 days

Until FRIDAY 16 MAY 2025 (both dates inclusive)

No person shall cause or permit any vehicle to proceed on the sections of Affected Roads.

Roads affected –
BANTHAM TO AUNEMOUTH CROSS, BANTHAM
The alternative, signed, route for vehicles will be via – ONELEA TO AUNEMOUTH CROSS TO BANTHAM CROSS TO ELSTON CROSS TO HUXTON FORK TO HEIRLAND CROSS TO WHITLEY CROSS TO KERSE CROSS TO CLANNACOMBE HOUSE TO WEST BUCKLAND TO EAST BUCKLAND TO CHAPEL CROSS TO BANTHAM TO KEARNY POINT AND REVERSE.

This temporary restriction is considered necessary to enable –
INSTALL NEW DUCTING AND LOW VAULTAGE CABLE.
